Instant Payments Strategy
Instant payments are no longer a someday project. I help financial institutions nationwide decide which rails to join, in what order, and why — and then fold that into the wider growth and marketing plan so it lands with members. The work is advisory; I do not sell network access or processing services.
What you get out of it
- A clear position on RTP, FedNow, and receive-versus-send sequencing
- A business case tied to member value, not just network participation
- A rollout sequence your teams and vendors can actually execute
Typical deliverables
- Instant payments readiness assessment
- RTP / FedNow rail and sequencing recommendation
- Business case and board-ready summary
- Phased rollout roadmap with owners and milestones
Frequently asked questions
- Should we start with receive-only or send?
- Most institutions start with receive because it is lower risk and delivers member value quickly. Send introduces fraud, liquidity, and operational questions that deserve their own plan — I sequence both deliberately rather than defaulting to one.
- Do we need both RTP and FedNow?
- Many institutions end up on both, but not at the same time. The right answer depends on your core and payments providers, your member and business use cases, and your internal capacity.
- Do you work with our existing vendors?
- Yes. Bridge & Rails is independent and takes no vendor commissions. The work is about getting the most from the partners and platforms you already have.
